Rabbit Hole: Labels

Rabbit Hole: Labels

Rabbit Hole: Labels

What started off as a simple email became a rabbit hole into labels, what is the mot sustainable way vs what works with our sourcing model vs what is cost effective and what does the customer want? Here’s the spiral in 5 points:

  1. Each way has its pros and cons : the more it can be one off for made on demand, it seems then the less inherently sustainable
  2. For the JVB model, having an on demand label would be best made in house, unfortunately that is higher upfront overhead - more machinery, printing on vinyl and heat transfers and heat pressing the label in house.
  3. The most sustainable is woven organic fibers but then still creating new fabric and , dying once color yarn and spinning and sewing in so what are energy and that is not at all time effective nor does the customer like that type of tag in swimwear or active wear, or really any type or wear.
  4. What the price is vs the cost seems to have an inverse relationship. The lower the price, the more cost on environment - creating, shipping, transportation.

Will there ever be a clear path?
